Shea Wine Cellars Estate Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012

$37.99

A great New Pinot Noir from one of Oregon's leading Pinot Noir producers! Sourced from throughout Shea Vineyard this is classic Oregon Pinot Noir. It displays violet aromas, red fruit on the palate and a spicy long finish. The Estate is big but not overpowering. The tannins are smooth, the acidity bright and the wine structured and balanced. Wine Enthusiast:  "It opens with lush aromatics, then flavors of rhubarb, berry, citrus, pine needle and a sprinkling of dried Italian herbs that combine gracefully and carry through a long finish."

Bought at winery. Moderately extracted purple, great clarity. Mushroom, barnyard and raspberry notes in nose. Cherry fruit leather, mixed berry (blue, black, rasp) and spice, good acidity. Needs time to open. Skin astringency on back of tongue. Can age this one a little longer if you want to smooth the tannins, but drinkable now

Bought at winery. Dense purple red, slight sediment in suspension. Herb, briar, mint, blackberry and a hint of raspberry in nose. Briar and mixed berries in mouth (black, blue and raspberry), slightly tart with a touch of seed bitterness and barrel toast on finish. Paired with local pizzeria's wild mushroom slice and their kale lemon ricotta slice.

Earthy fruit Jose jumps out, washes the palate with delicately balanced bold cherry flavors. Long finish from med+ acidity. #love #merrychristmas #coravin

Honestly, I was kind of disappointed with this wine. Shea is one of my all time favorite Oregon vineyards, but this one is just too muted compared to other '12s from the area.
