A classic, powerful Cabernet from Sequoia Grove and Napa Valley's famed Rutherford Bench! Sequoia Grove is one of those great small family-run wineries in the prime Cabernet area of Napa Valley that has managed to remain under the radar. One of the best Cabs we've tasted in this price range, its full of the big tannins and a healthy dose of American Oak that Silver Oak fans love. The grapes come from well-regarded vineyards in the Napa Valley and Sequoia Grove's own estate vineyards in Rutherford. 92 Points James Suckling: "This classically rich Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is dark in color with aromas of bright black cherry and blackberry, followed by baking spices and a hint of chocolate. On the palate, the Sequoia Grove 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon offers intense flavors of blackberry with round and smooth tannins, with subtle notes of toasted vanilla." 91 Points Robert Parker: "A barrel sample blended of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot, the Sequoia Grove Cabernet Sauvignon is deep purple-black in color and features open-knit notions of crushed blueberries, black cherries and red and black currants with suggestions of pencil shavings and tilled soil. Medium to full bodied, the palate gives a great concentration of earth-laced black fruits with a pleasantly chewy finish."

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim. Fruity nose of black currants, plums, cooked cherries, light cedar, tobacco and chocolates. Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs. Dry on the palate and fruit forward with blackberries, black plums, cooked cherries, cedar, toast, light vanilla, spices, dark chocolates, licorice, coffee, light earth and peppercorn. Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries. This is a young Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Already drinking beautifully, but needed 3 hours to open up properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 7 years. Fruit forward with nice complexity and a nice mouthfeel. Interesting and entertaining. Robert Parker 90 points. Wine Enthusiasts 93 points. A good sipping wine that paired beautifully with my New York Strip steak. A blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, 7% Merlot, 2% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot. Aged for 18 months in (60% new) French Oak barrels. 14.9% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $55.
