J. Davies Diamond Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

$99.99

Brand new boutique Cabernet release from Schramsberg from their Estate property on Napa's Diamond Mountain. J. Davies Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% estate grown, produced, and bottled by Schramsbreg Vineyards. Two historic vineyards on the Diamond Mountain District property have been tested over a decade for their red wine potential. Winemaker Hugh Davies and Craig Roemer have been perfecting this vineyard for over 10 years and have produced an intensely fruity, beatifully balanced 2008 vintage. 93 Points Robert Parker: "A blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Malbec, 2% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2015 J. Davies Diamond Mountain has a deep garnet-purple color and offers up classic black currant, black plum and mulberry scents with hints of cigar box, yeast extract and bay leaves. Medium to full-bodied with a great core of black berry and earthy layers, the fruit is supported by grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with a pleasant herbal lift. This superb wine represents a perfect style between the elegance of Bordeaux and the ripeness and exuberance of a Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink it over the next 20 years." 94 Points Antonio Galoni (Vinous): "The  Cabernet Sauvignon J. Davies is the most powerful and tightly wound of the wines I saw. Firm Diamond Mountain tannins give the wines much of their distinctive personality. Graphite, smoke, licorice, black cherry, lavender and savory herbs develop in the glass, adding considerable complexity. Bright saline notes give the wine a final burst of energy on the close."
