Brand new boutique Cabernet release from Schramsberg from their Estate property on Napa's Diamond Mountain. J. Davies 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% estate grown, produced, and bottled by Schramsbreg Vineyards. Two historic vineyards on the Diamond Mountain District property have been tested over a decade for their red wine potential. Winemaker Hugh Davies and Craig Roemer have been perfecting this vineyard for over 10 years and have produced an intensely fruity, beatifully balanced 2008 vintage. 93 Points Antonio Galoni: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon J. Davies is soft, juicy and open-knit, with soft contours, juicy fruit and terrific overall balance. Raspberry jam, spices and wild flowers all flesh out in the glass. The addition of 11% Malbec and 4% Petit Verdot gives the J. Davies an extra kick of mid-palate juiciness and overall intensity. Here, too, the style is ripe and racy to the core, with all the elements in the right place."

2013 vintage. 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Malbec, 4% Petit Verdot. AVA Diamond Mountain District, Napa Valley. 24 months French oak (74% new). Consulting winemaker Celia Welch. Dark red with a hint of purple at the rim. Graphite, slightly jammy black fruits, spices and flowers in the nose. Layers of dark juicy fruit, fresh acidity and a firm, but rather soft tannic structure. Mineral finish. Surprisingly generous and supple for a Diamond Mountain cab. Very good indeed. Growing in the glass.

2200 feet in the sky is what makes this so yummy! Composed of Cab and a splash of Malbec and Petit Verdot. Volcanic notes on the nose with cream cassis. Soft tannins on the sip while still getting that cream lush mouthfeel. Core raspberries and minerals balanced nice with the acidity-segway's to a succulent finish.

@Paul Treadway I need a 2012 Rudius Knockmore next to this to decide how good it really is!

Dark blackberry, blueberry, fruit all the way. The balance and silkiness make this a wonderful pour. The mid palate is rewarded with an explosion of layered flavors of fruit. @jesus g @David L @Paul T

14.5% alc. 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Malbec and 4% Petit Verdot. Aged 24 months in 74% new French oak. A tad below their 2012 to my palate with a dark fruit bitterness (from the PV?) that I don't think will mellow out favorably with age. A great wine/good QPR and given the vintage perhaps just an infanticide on my part but I was hoping for a bit more at this point.

Blackberries, dark with smooth mocha. Surprising.
