Schrader Cellars LPV Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

$189.99

98 Points Parker - limited                                 Limited new release from Schrader Cellars. 94 Points Robert Parker: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard Lpv comes from clone 337. This is a rather earthy style for a Schrader wine, with less drama and flamboyance, but great fruit, a more meaty, dusty style with underbrush as well as blackcurrants, with spicy oak. It’s dense, full-bodied and promises to age nicely for 20 more years... ...After the remarkable performance of the 2012s, I would be hard-pressed to believe that Schrader could equal or eclipse that vintage, but they seem to have certainly equaled the quality of the 2012s. The 2013s are slightly more coiled and more tightly knit and with probably greater definition. That said, they all possess fabulous concentration and palate presence. Any of these will make a spectacular elixir/vinous treat to serve and consume over the next 25-30+ years."

The 2013 Schrader ‘LPV’ Cabernet Sauvignon is a truly thrilling wine from this storied Napa winery. This is the third vintage of this wine made by the esteemed Thomas Brown. The wine was aged for twenty months in French oak and utilizes both clone 4 and 337 from the Beckstoffer Las Piedras vineyard. The ‘LPV’ benefits from about an hour of air, as the wine gains immediate appeal with its downright sexy bouquet of red rose petals that emerge alongside creme de cassis, tar, mocha and sandalwood. Soft and generous on the mouth, this silky wine effortlessly dances across the mid-palate. The plush, seductive texture gives way to gobs of dense dark fruits, with sweet pipe tobacco, tar and Turkish coffee flavors all marching on parade. Truly a scintillating wine right now, as this will age for decades to come. Drink 2020-2040- 97

Super dark purplish red and completely coats the glass. Dark nose with tobacco, cassis, perfume, black currants and sweet spices. Heavy tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Layered palate with gravel, dark berries, leather, cigar box, sweet spices and solid minerality. Insanely long and a touch dry finish. Drink till 2030.

Just a gorgeous Cabernet! Big and full of fruit. Velvety on the palate. Not overblown at all and just a pleasure to drink!

This wine is f—king opulent with a capital O. For a 2013, this wine was popped and poured and was amazing.
