95 points                                  previous vintage 95 Points Robert Parker:  "Even more stunning is the Pinot Noir, which received similar treatment to the 2012. This wine shows complex forest floor notes, damp earth and Asian plum sauce interwoven with blackcurrant and black cherry as well as hints of underbrush and spring flowers. Deep, rich, complex and showing loads of fruit, it should be drunk over the next 5-7 years... ...This project, ten years in the making, is owned by Carol and Fred Schrader (famous for their Napa Valley Cabernets), who purchased 40 acres on the second ridge line in from the Pacific Ocean. Their debut vintage was 2012. The vineyard manager is Ulises Valdez and the winemaker, who also produces the Schrader Beckstoffer Cabernet Sauvignons in Napa, is Thomas Rivers Brown." For the inaugural vintage of this wine, we selected specific barrels to create a dark complex Pinot Noir full of fruit, spice and structure. In the glass, this wine exhibits a nearly opaque purple-red hue. Waves of aromas suggest red licorice, pomegranate reduction, pennyroyal mint and lavender oil. The bold, dynamic palate suggests notes of macerated boysenberry, cedar shavings, black cherry, oolong tea and crushed river rock. The entry of this wine starts with a fruit-forward expression and develops more structure and tertiary notes mid-palate, finishing with a pretty, floral quality. This wine is easily enjoyable now with its abundance of fruit and great natural balance and acidity. — Winemaker, Thomas Brown
