Sans Liege The Offering Red Rhone Blend 2013

$28.99

Fantastic new discovery!  The latest offering from Sans Liege's Curt Schalchlin, the "Offering" is a blend of 48% Grenache, 29% Syrah, 21% Mourvedre and 2% Viognier. Darkly stylish label art, darkly stylish Grenache blend in the bottle. Highly recommended.Winemaker Notes:  "In the pages of the book your father read to you there were paintings of jungles. Strange boughs laden with deep flowers, blueberries filled with cream guarded by amber jewelled jaguars. As you drifted to sleep the summer air was swollen with storms, you could smell the wet earth, the hyacinth, your mother’s rare perfumes. Swaddled in your clean bed, you never heard the car pull out, crushing the violets in the yard." OK, so we're not sure what all of that means, but we just love this wine, and have been taking it to to every tasting where it consistently blows away the competition. Highly recommended.

2013 Vintage. This is the second bottle my wife opened with her friend. Thankfully some was left for me. On Saturday night it beat out the Terry Hoage 2012 5 Blocks.

2013 Vintage. 45% Grenache, 36% Syrah, 18% Mourvèdre, 1% Viognier. 15.4% alcohol. Big, sexy Rhône blend. Tannins have integrated for a silky mouthfeel. Excellent with porcini truffle ravioli with goat cheese and corn sauce. (Variation on this dish at Perbacco in SF)

Big central coast GSM & V. Blackberry alcohol/fruit bomb. Not a lot of tannins but delicious after a long drive to Santa Barbara wine country.
