Salvestrin Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

$54.99

Three generations of the Salvestrin Family have been selling grapes to from their Estate Vineyard in Napa Valley to the best Cabernet producers which now goes into their own wine. 92 Points James Suckling: "Salvestrin is a family affair that began way back in 1932, who was recently voted one of Napa Valley's Top 10 Small Undiscovered Wineries. Their Cabernet is fantastic, with everything you would expect from the varietal: Black cherry, blackberry on the nose, with a touch of spice. Full bodied, with supple tannin and a lengthy finish. At $50, which is unheard of for Napa Valley Cab prices, this is a wine not to be missed." 90 Points Robert Parker:  "Made up of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 3% Syrah and 1% Cabernet Franc, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley has a deep garnet-purple color and nose of cassis, earth, red and black cherries, sage and tobacco. The palate is medium to full-bodied and chewy with an herbal lift....Salvestrin can boast multiple generations farming its vineyards since 1932, so this is by no means a newcomer to the Napa Valley wine scene. These wines never seem to get old, and this will be one our grandchildren can enjoy circa 2050."

Red fruit in the nose with prominent maraschino cherries in the palate. Needed some time decanting, but went well with a grilled NY strip. Also was nice with a cheese/sausage charcuterie board.
