98 points - rare release Extremely limited opportunity on one of the most sought-after Champagnes in the world. 100 Points Wine Enthusiast: "The 35th and most recent vintage of Salon since the house was founded in 1905 is memorable and magnificent. Made only from Chardonnay grown in the Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, it combines intense minerality, a crisp textured core and the beginnings of maturity. The depths of this wine, with its layers of fruit and steeliness, are superb. Even after 12 years, it still needs to age further. Drink from 2018." 99 Points James Suckling: "A subtle, intense champagne that shows complex character of lilac, mineral, sliced lemon, apple and white pepper. It is full-bodied and dense but racy and agile with a lightness and freshness. It has a gloriously long finish. It changes every moment in the glass. It has such clarity. It’s magnificent to drink now, but shows great texture and structure for aging. Best since 1982." Only 62,000 bottles of this, the 40th vintage of Salon's Blanc de Blancs were made. This exceptional vintage bottling comes from a one-hectare parcel owned by Salon called "Salon's garden," along with 19 other smaller parcels in Mesnil-sur-Oger that were chosen by Aimé Salon back at the beginning of the 20th century. It was cellared in bottle for at least 10 years.

Very present and correct. Very clear fruit but underlying acidity. Lovely stuff.

This is really tightly coiled. Lemon (verbena?), steeliness, lime and chalk. Real purity and clarity on the palate but super tightly wound. This needs time but there’s quality there.

10 years on lees. The perfect amount of brioche. Yellow apple, Bartlett pear, vanilla on the nose. And a flavor that coats the pallet they is enough to bring heaven to earth.

Got to taste the '02 Salon today that is just now being released. It is mind blowing. One of the greatest Champagnes I've ever tasted, with a very long life ahead of it.

Whoa mama. The structure is here - white pepper, ginger, chalk. First disgorgement of the 02.

This wine is incredible. It has such power whilst being delicate. The length was as long as any wine I have had.

What an incredible experience! Medium straw, light yellow color; beautiful ripe apple aroma, with a hint of yeastiness; quite precise and luxurious, incredibly elegant, frisky and super alive; medium bodied, rich, layered and stylish on the palate; dry, fine acidity, well balanced; excellent super-young flavors of ripe apple and light yeastiness; long finish, subtle layers in the aftertaste. One of the best wines, I have ever enjoyed. This is a wine for the ages. (Best Served: 2022-2040)
