Rudd, one of Napa Valley's premier producers, also makes one of the best Sauvignon Blancs in California. The Sauvignon Blanc from Mt. Veeder comes from three different clones. Clone 1, the most traditional clone used in California, has classic acidity and structure, a Musque clone that delivers amazing floral aromatics and a special French clone 530 which has ripe melon and tropical notes and adds a rich viscosity to the wine.

A friend had a “reduction party” as he was needing to thin out his cellar. Definitely a party I’m happy to attend! One of the better Napa SBs I’ve had. Love those mountain SBs because of the profile and power they exude. Aromatically it showed ripe grapefruit, sea salt, fresh squeezed lime over rocks, and wild flowers...even some mint. While a more round profile, it’s still a bit jagged at this age with acidity. Added notes of melon, pink sea salt and tart lemon lime. Definitely tropical, but not as much as Aesthete’s SB. This will age nicely.

Terrific bottle. Citrus, mint, and cream in perfect balance. Older school California style. Expensive but worth it.
