Rose Rock Drouhin Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir 2022
A fantastic new Pinot Noir from Domaine Drouhin's new property in Oregon. Limited. Wine Spectator #7 Wine of 2024! Limited. 94 Points Wine Spectator: "Supple and elegantly structured, with detailed raspberry and cherry flavors accented by rose petal, brown baking spices and orange peel as this glides toward polished tannins. Drink now through 2032." Domaine Drouhin is the Oregon outpost of Burgundy’s Maison Joseph Drouhin. While most of the estate vineyards are in the Dundee Hills, Roserock Vineyard in Eola-Amity Hills has become increasingly key to the winery’s success since the Drouhins purchased the 122-acre vineyard in 2013. Véronique Boss-Drouhin, who oversees winemaking operations in both Burgundy and Oregon, blended a selection from the vineyard’s 35 individual blocks, which she fermented separately. Eola-Amity Pinot Noirs are known for their powerful structure, but Boss-Drouhin strives to accentuate the house’s graceful style. This 2022 aged in French oak barrels (20 percent of which were new) for 10 months.

My glass sucked for this, so keep this rating with a grain of salt. fresh open had a lot of ethanol aromas, some red fruit. After opening up, Hint of almost maple and cherry. Cranberry and small hints of the ethanol remain. Subdued darker berries. Early tastes have the twang of lemon acidity balance of tannins. Medium body. I am sure i would have liked this a fair bit more if i had let it open up more before starting, and had a proper glass. Will revisit if i have the chance. Likely id rate it higher. Steak and lemon butter asparagus pairing.

Dark garnet color. Complex aromas of lavender, violets, rose petals, red cherries and cinnamon. Red, blue and black berry fruit flavors with touches of baking spices, orange zest and fresh basil. Beautiful earthy note on the long finish. Medium bodied with soft tannins tannins and nicely balanced acidity. Delicate but bold at the same time. Excellent!
