Rare new Sauvignon Blanc from Rombauer! Just the fifth vintage of Sauvignon Blanc ever made by Rombauer so it disappears fast. The Rombauer Sauvignon Blanc is brilliant pale yellow with a bright green hue. It exudes aromas of ripe lime, grapefruit, pear and white nectarine with a subtle hint of fresh-cut grass. The palate is fresh and enticing, as grapefruit, white nectarine and deep tropical notes intertwine making the mouth water. Balanced yet lively acidity lingers on the palate inviting another taste. Boxwood on the finish gives the wine length and vibrant freshness. Introduced with the 2014 vintage, Rombauer's Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc marks an exciting milestone for Rombauer Vineyards – the first new varietal introduced in more than 20 years and only the second white wine in our 39-year history.

Fun fact (for me anyway): Rombauer makes Sauvignon Blanc under screw cap and it’s good. I’ve been drowning in a wave of SB recently (spoiler alert I’m writing an article) and this shiznit stands up. A very ripe orgy of citrus congregates on the wet river stone nose. Gooseberry crashes the party on the tongue as one does along with a whisper of green apple Jolly Rancher, but in a good way. It’s quite light and gauzy but that gauze has a bit of grip and texture—I’m guessing a small percentage of used barrel showing it’s face? Any which way I like this.

Wanted a white for my minestrone. Honeydew and interestingly enough I get some of the wax from those old time candy bottles. Very tasty.
