Fantastic new release! With the 2014 vintage, Rombauer enters the top-tier of Napa Cab producers. Widely known for having one of California's most popular Chardonnays, their Cabernet is now top-notch. Made from estate fruit as well as fruit from select growers, Rombauer's Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from Stags Leap District, Atlas Peak, Mount Veeder, St. Helena, Calistoga and Rutherford AVAs. The Cabernet Sauvignon is complemented by inclusion of 11% Petit Verdot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Merlot and the wine aged in 70% new French oak for 17 months before bottling.

This is a fastball straight down the middle of the plate. Popped and poured. On the nose, pipe tobacco, old leather shoe, dill, and green olives. On the palate, cassis, blackberry, and baking spice. The oak is integrating well...yet tannins are still pretty firm. Good acid. Long finish. Really great showing. I think these just need a little bottle age to become more interesting.

Blackberry, cassis, black cherry, raspberry, vanilla, eucalyptus, licorice and oak. Great structure and well-integrated tannins.

Deep, fully ripe fruit, warm vanilla, supple tannins, and a long finish made this Cab a hit at the table. Drinks above its price.

Super smooth. Not tangy or bitter, which excites me. But sweet. Drank it with spicy chicken and it held its own big time.

Disappointing. Received as a gift and was expecting big things as I’ve had numerous Rombauer wines. But this one didn’t cut it, especially for the price

Dark berry and black cherry, subtle vanilla and grippy tannins. The alcohol is showing a little too much to be an excellent wine, but overall very nice.
