Robert Keenan Winery Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Keenan is one of our favorite wineries on Napa Valley's Spring Mountain. Neighboring Pride, Paloma, Barnett and Cain.  The 2012 One of the highest rated Cabs of the vintage. Limited. 96 Points Antonio Galloni (Vinous):  "The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is dense, powerful and incredibly inviting. The 2016 brings together dense, unctuous fruit and terrific freshness. A classically built medium-bodied wine of the style that are seldom found in Napa Valley today. Hints of sage, lavender, espresso and menthol add aromatic intrigue, but it is the wine's balance and sense of proportion that I find most alluring today. This is a fabulous showing from Robert Keenan 94 Points Robert Parker: "Containing 7% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Spring Mountain offers up cassis, cedar, toast and earth on the nose with bay leaves, mint and chocolate nuances. Medium-bodied and elegant, it has firm, chewy tannins and is vibrant in the mouth, finishing with a minty lift." ...Keenan has been on a real high-quality roll for a number of years, and they are among my favorite wines in Napa Valley, combining power and complexity. They’ve certainly found their groove, so to speak, in this last 10-15 years.  Michael Keenan has done a fabulous job of ratcheting up the quality of the wines from this Spring Mountain estate."

What was meant to be a casual dinner with friends over homemade BLTs ended up turning into a full-blown wine dinner. . Juicy, savory, and pretty balanced. I’ve always enjoyed Keenan. Dark fruits like muddled blueberries and blackberries, dark chocolate, cedar/musk.
