Robert Foley Vineyards The Griffin Napa Valley Merlot Blend 2014

$39.99

One of our favorite red blends from Napa Valley - Highly Recommended. Ultra purple in color, this proprietary red blend offers complex aromas of wild berries, camphor and violet blossoms. Expansive black cherry flavors couple with a well-balanced acidity and evenly gripping tannin. A mouthful of red wine! The 2014 Griffin is a blend of 32% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Petite Sirah, 10% Petit Verdot, 10% Syrah, 9% Charbono. The blend changes every vintage, so stock up if you find a favorite, as next year’s bottle will be a surprise. 95 Points Brix26:  "The Griffin Proprietary Red is a blend of Merlot, Syrah and Petite Sirah.  A winemaker’s dream is to be artistically free to combine characters into wine that is purely hedonic and non-compliant with varietal regulations, so the Griffin's blend will change with every vintage.  A pleasure from nose to finish, it has a very aromatic nose, followed by a lush mouthfeel and a medium to full bodied palate  If you like blends like Orin Swift's The Prisoner or Buoncristiani's O.P.C., this one is a must-have.”

Heavy on the dark fruit. Round and lush on palate - felt like it didn't have an abundance of structure. Crowd-pleasing for Napa fans.

We were looking for something to replace Scouts Honor, sine the '15 vintage is so sweet. And this was suggested. Very impressed.
