Robert Foley Vineyards Napa Valley Merlot 2010

Very Limited new release of Pride winemaker Robert Foley's private label. The Robert Foley Merlot Napa Valley is one of the best Merlots in California today. 94 Points Brix26: "A Merlot for Cabernet lovers, the dark ruby hue leads to thoroughly ripe aromas and flavors of red cherry, espresso and clove. The rich mid palate gushes with candied cherry, cassis and currant character framed with chewy yet elegantly fine tannins. Masculine structure and spice from Howell Mountain marry perfectly with the round femininity of Calistoga to create a perfect textural balance. 800 cases produced." The irrepressible and highly talented Bob Foley is out on his own now, although still consulting, and these wines are his personal projects. They have been very successful in the past, and there’s no indication that he intends to rest on his laurels.
