Roar Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir 2019

$45

94 points                                                         ROAR makes some of the best and hardest to get new Pinot Noirs in California.  previous vintage 94 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "Always a great value, the Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands reveals a vibrant ruby hue as well as ripe cherry and strawberry fruit intermixed with notes of shiitake mushroom, dried herbs, and some meaty, earthy notes. It's a slightly more finesse-driven wine than some of the single vineyards and is beautifully balanced, has good acidity, and unquestionably plays in the same qualitative ballpark as all of these releases." Roar is owned by Gary & Rosella Franscioni, who planted and own the famed Rosella's Vineyard, Gary's Vineyard and Pisoni Vineyard in California's Central Coast.

2019 vintage and the best I’ve tasted from non-estate Roar. Don’t even think about drinking this without at least a 4 hour decant. Came together on day 2 and was still singing on day 3. This is a roaring Pinot that pulls no punches. Gorgeous and well integrated. Ripe dark fruit flavor and nicely acidic. Cheers!

This deserves more than a 9.0, really really well balanced while having a fruit forward and balanced acid profile. Drinks super easily straight after decorking (2019, drank in 2022)
