Roar Garys' Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021

$79.99

ROAR makes some of the best and hardest to get new Pinot Noirs in California. previous vintage 95 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "The ROAR Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard comes all from the Pisoni and Calera clones and saw 54% new French oak. Another complex, Burgundian style release from this team, it offers notes of wild strawberries, cured meats, iodine, and damp earth, with more violet and floral notes developing with time in the glass. Beautifully layered, pure, and silky on the palate, with polished tannins, it shows the class of this great vintage and is going to drink brilliantly for at least a decade." Roar is owned by Gary & Rosella Franscioni, who planted and own the famed Rosella's Vineyard, Gary's Vineyard and Pisoni Vineyard in California's Central Coast.

Medium Ruby color with layered aromas of fresh berry fruits with floral and woodsy spice notes. On the palate flavors of strawberry and ripe raspberry with cigar box, oak, black tea, citrus, cola and herb floral notes. Well balanced, savory fine tannins, long finish ending with oaky earthy notes. Nice!

The 2021 Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard is laced with bright red-toned fruit, dried herbs, rose petals, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco. This is an especially savory Pinot in the range. The aromatics are quite alluring today, but the wine is much less expressive on the palate, where it feels very tight at this stage. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, November 2023)
