Readers lucky enough to own it should plan on cellaring it for at least a few years." 91 Robert Parker: "The 2017 Lytton Springs is made up of 74% Zinfandel, 15% Petite Sirah, 9% Carignane and 2% Mataro. It aged in 100% air-dried American oak, 10% new. Medium ruby-purple, it opens with dried flowers, autumn leaves and cinnamon stick notions over a core of crushed red cherries, dried cranberries, apricot, underbrush, red currant and black cherries with a super spicy undercurrent. The palate is medium-bodied, spicy and fresh with a grainy frame and juicy freshness, finishing long and lifted... ...This was a great set of recent releases from Ridge, with the superb 2016 Geyserville standing out as a particular highlight. I've also included a few notes on barrel samples tasted at the Monte Bello winery. Ridge boasts as illustrious a history as any winery in California, but they certainly aren't resting on their laurels. For a Ridge Zin, this strikes me as a big boy. Rich nose has intense, rich, spicy blackberry fruit, accented with a little pungent American oak, and a nice dry gravel note underneath. Expansive in the mouth, the fruit is rich and concentrated, but avoids jamminess, and the palate also features a characteristic brambly component. Finishes dry and clingy, with tactile tannins (soft) coating the mouth. I’m having it with pasta, but this wine is built for a grilled porterhouse.

Blend of 72% Zinfandel, 18% Petite Sirah, 8% Carignane & 2% Mataro. Deep Ruby color with aromas of berry fruits, tobacco and earthy spices. On the palate flavors of blackberry and raspberry with black pepper, tobacco, citrus spice and a touch of earthy herbs. Fine firm tannins, long finish ending with fruit, earthy spice and some cedar. Nice!

This wine has a rich, full texture with juicy blackberry, black cherry, plum, candied blackcurrant, anise, black licorice, cedar box, pencil shavings, vanilla, coconut, nutmeg, clove, tobacco and wet earth. The tannins are smooth and ripe; the alcohol is high and well-integrated. What a nicely balanced and delicious Zinfandel from Dry Creek Valley!

Wine-O-Mite!!
F-ing killer wine. This will improve, but it is already just awesome by me. Everything I love about Cali zin (chili peppers song? No?), with a supporting cast of petit verdot and friends lending a supple, lovely balance that just sings for me. Not to be dramatic, but I am not sure I have had a better wine at this price point in my life.
