Ridge Vineyards East Bench Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel 2018

$29.99

Fantastic new Ridge Zinfandel from the Dry Creek Valley. 92 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine: "Appealingly old-school and just rustic enough to highlight the vibrant, briary wild berry flavors, laced with dried sage and licorice notes, building tension toward lively tannins. Drink now through 2028." The growing season at this hilltop vineyard began favorably with mild spring weather. Thanks to steady, warm weather throughout August, all seven parcels were ready to pick by early September. After fermenting each separately, we chose six for their exuberant fruit, elegant tannins and balanced acidity. Enjoyable upon release the exemplary Ridge 2018 East Bench Zinfandel will evolve over six to seven years.

I didn’t get to wait as long for this to open up as the last bottle (since I was sharing with a few other people). This needs either a 3-4 hour decant to really open up or at least 3-5 more years in the cellar before attempting to open. Laying the rest of mine down for a while.

Really impressed with this wine. A perfect combination of power, finesse, and balance. Certainly buying a couple more to see how this progresses over the next 5-10 years. Lots of upside for this bottle.

Deep ruby color. Aromas of blackberry, plum and black pepper. Amazing black fruit, chalk and black tea. Superb.

This was everything I was expecting from a Dry Creek AVA zin - dark fruit and baking spice, with a medium-to-full body and smooth finish. Great value at $31

Nice spicy black fruits on the nose. Fully flavored with ripe fruits, baking spices, and a little zippiness. Surprisingly restrained for a zinfandel, but good.

Fantastic bottle. Reminds me of why I first fell for Zin.
