Red Stitch Soberanes Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016

Rare new small-production release from one of the best Pinot vineyards in California. Limited. 94 Points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine by retired baseball stars Rich Aurilia and Dave Roberts shows both ripeness and restraint in all corners. On the nose, that means star anise and slate layered across black cherry and blackberry fruit. On the palate, the very full mouthfeel packs thyme, crushed herbs and elderberry flavors into an earthy package." Drawn together through a blind tasting group, former Major League Baseball players Dave Roberts and Rich Aurilia got interested in wine big time.  After the 2008 baseball season, they started to lay the groundwork for Red Stitch Winery. A friendship with Mi Sueno's renowned winemaker Rolando Herrera brought the idea to fruition. Rolando's knowledge, relationships and enthusiasm have given them the opportunity to source incredible grapes from some of the finest vineyards in California.   In 2011, they started sourcing Pinot from two of the finest vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands VA, Soberanes and Sierra Mar. This is a winery to watch.
