Ramey Wine Cellars Sonoma Coast Syrah 2018

$49.99

Rare Syrah from Ramey - limited. 96 Points Jeb Dunnuck:  "A dark ruby red hue, the Ramey 2018 Syrah Rodgers Creek Vineyard is lifted with red fruits as well as bright floral perfume, pancetta, sandalwood, and black pepper. Medium-bodied, it is bright but well balanced through the palate, with a clean, tapered finish, and it’s going to drink well over the coming 10 or so years. l love it." This unique property is on the western, cooler side of Sonoma Mountain, in the Petaluma Gap AVA, is home to vines planted back in 2002 800 feet up the southwestern face of the mountain. The vines of Syrah and Viognier grow upon old, rocky volcanic soils. The blend is 90% Syrah and 10% Viognier. After harvest the Syrah grapes are left whole cluster at 30% and the Viogner is co-fermented. The wines are then aged sur lies with monthly bâtonnage and rested 25 months in 100% new French barrels. The final result is bottled without filtration.
