Rare Syrah from Ramey - limited. 96 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "A step up, the 2014 Syrah Rodgers Creek Vineyard is a blockbuster effort that reminds me of a good vintage of the Côte Rôtie La Mouline from Guigal. Awesome notes of incense, lavender, bacon fat, and spring flowers gives way to a full-bodied, voluptuous Syrah that has a sexy, seamless texture, sweet tannin, and a big finish. This cuvée saw 10% Viognier and is an exotic, intense, superstar of a Syrah readers should snatch up. 587 cases."

100% new barrel is very well integrated. Needs some time open, very primary at first, but with air shows Syrah secondary. Smooth. Drinkable for the category.

While the Ramey Rodgers Creek Syrah is a favorite of mine, the ‘14 is not a knockout vintage for me. It looks beautiful in the glass — dark cherry red and translucent — and it has a room filling nose from the moment the bottle is opened. But it seems to lose something in the glass. Some creamy dark fruit and silky smooth, but doesn’t have a lot of layers this year.

Love it! Cote Rotie style Syrah. Earthy with notes of blackberry, leather, and a bit of smoke. Highly recommend.

We had the 2014 Vintage on 6/23-24/19. Dark fruit and pepper were the predominant flavors. There are just too many more enjoyable wines. No different from the 2013 Vintage.
