Ramey Wine Cellars Rodger's Creek Vineyard Syrah 2010

$69.98

Fantastic new Syrah release from Ramey - limited. 95 Points Robert Parker:  "An exotic melange of dark fruit, black pepper, savory herbs, game and licorice emerges from the 2010 Syrah Rodgers Creek Vineyard. Another big, large-scaled Syrah, the 2010 is likely to require considerable patience. This unapologetically rich, intense Syrah keeps getting better and better in the glass, but it is not for the timid or for those seeking subtlety. Still, it is impossible not to love the exuberance and sheer personality of the wine in the glass. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029...Once again, I tasted an amazing range of wines with David Ramey." The Ramey Syrahs are grown in the cool climate of Sonoma Coast which offers a style reminiscent of the Northern Rhone regions of Hermitage and Cornas: aromas and flavors of smoked meat, white pepper, green olive and grapefruit.  The Rodger's Creek vineyard is a unique property on the western, cooler side of Sonoma Mountain, which provides the savory character that to us defines Syrah.

My first 2010 and it’s a great wine with lots of legs left. Deep purple, almost black with just a hint of browning at the edges. Big earthy, berry nose followed by a rich, silky, palate coating black cherry and berry palate with mild spice and super smooth tannins. Worth the wait!

Spicy nose, opens up to a really unctuous beautiful powerhouse, the alcohol is high but this is so big you don't know it's there. Loved it

I thought this was going to be an over the top concentrated Sonoma syrah, but it was lighter and more elegant in style, very nice though
