Ramey Wine Cellars Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

$49.99

David Ramey is making some of the finest Cabernet blends in California today - we highly recommend trying them now. The Ramey 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon is a great introduction. Robert Parker: "David Ramey has long had one of the most impressive resumes for any California winemaker. He worked at Chateau Petrus in Bordeaux and for Christian Moueix at Dominus. He also consulted and worked for a number of high end Napa Valley wineries. Of course, his first love is Ramey Wine Cellars, and he has built an extensive empire of Chardonnays, Cabernet Sauvignons and more recently Syrahs as well as a tiny quantity of Pinot Noir (talk about going to the dark side)."

One of my favorite wineries. Lush, velvety, and elegant. Nicely balanced with cherries, currant, smoked herbs, and mocha. Weighty without overpowering. This is in a really good place right now.

Blackberry, mocha and a nice mushroom finish. Silky, yet the tannins remain strong and prominent. The Merlot really softens this up nicely. 10 years left. Solid effort in a tough year.

Solid made cab. Not memorable. I would view this a low QPR.

Just picked this one up. Alas it is going into a not for profit fundraising event as a donation. Has anyone had it?
