Raen Winery Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2014

$59.95

The Raen 2014 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir comes from a new generation of Mondavis, Carlo & Dante. Limited. When Robert Mondavi Winery was sold in 2004, the brothers joined their father Tim, Aunt-Marcia and grandfather Robert as they founded Continuum in 2005. In 2013 Carlo and Dante founded RAEN winery with the goal to produce world class Pinot Noir on the western hills of the Sonoma Coast. RAEN currently focuses on making three Pinot Noirs, from three unique sites on the Sonoma Coast. Tasting Notes:  Deep, ruby red in color working its way to an ever slight, ruby hazed rim. Aromas of ripe red cherry, wild strawberry, coastal moss, and pomegranate lead to underlying notes of Moroccan mint and wet stone. On the palate the wine opens with bright acidity backed by youthful, fine grained-tannins. Flavors of wild dark berries, and crushed stone lead to a wonderfully long finish. A tiny 154 cases were produced.

Elegant red fruit, spice and floral on the nose. Fruit forward with nice tastes of strawberry or raspberry jam, dusty earthiness, and orange peel. So far it paired nicely with the fried oyster appetizer and I am sure my filet and sautéed mushrooms will pair nicely as well. I am so happy to be healthy again after several serious doses of antibiotics over the last 6 weeks that prevented me from enjoying a little wine. Here's to everyone's health!
