The Raen 2015 Royal St. Robert Cuvee Pinot Noir comes from a new generation of Mondavis, Carlo & Dante. Limited. 95 Points James Suckling: "Supple and intensely fruity with linear focus and brightness. Wonderful clarity and minerality. Medium body, long and focused. Drink now." 94 Points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "Raen's 2015 Royal St. Robert Cuvée is an exotically beautiful, almost overwhelming wine endowed with superb depth and intensity in all of its dimensions. A burst of ripe red and purplish-hued stone fruits rushes across the palate. Rose petal, lavender, spice, blood orange and spice overtones follow in short order. Ripe and racy, but not at all heavy, the 2015 is a real head-turner. All of the depth of the year comes through, but there is also tremendous aromatic intensity and bright acids to balance things out....Brothers Carlo and Dante Mondavi follow their brilliant 2014s with the equally captivating 2015s. Raen focuses on coastal sites where fruit can ripen at relatively low sugars. The wines are fermented with ambient yeasts and see a good deal of whole clusters. In tasting, the Raen Pinots convey the essence of site with tremendous depth and intensity, but no excess weight. Perhaps even more importantly, these are wines of real personality and breed. Don't miss them." When Robert Mondavi Winery was sold in 2004, the brothers joined their father Tim, Aunt-Marcia and grandfather Robert as they founded Continuum in 2005. In 2013 Carlo and Dante founded RAEN winery with the goal to produce world class Pinot Noir on the western hills of the Sonoma Coast. RAEN currently focuses on making three Pinot Noirs, from three unique sites on the Sonoma Coast.

2015 Sonoma Coast Royal St. Robert. Loving this. Very bright, precise and lively with aromas of pomegranate, sour cherry and citrus rind. Impressive depth and texture and no impression of oak.

Lots of flowers and fruit - both nose and palette. If you like that in a Pinot - it’s your thing.

2015 vintage. At Bonham’s restaurant. What a find! A bottle of American Pinot that actually impressed. Medium ruby hue. On the nose, very expressive and full on for a young wine - lots of red cherry and strawberry pieces, hints of earth and sous bois. On the palate, medium acidity and body, deep concentration of flavour and medium alcohol. Lovely finish - not too sweet. A precise, well made wine that reminded me of Bell Hill in style with slightly lower acidity levels. Excellent. Interesting to see how this will age. Bravo.
