This discovery is one of Portugal's finest red wines from the Duoro Valley. A rich, full and round red with a great finish. Don't miss. 91 Points Wine Spectator: "A focused red, with supple, streamlined flavors of blackberry, bay leaf and steeped plum. Spice and iron notes show on the finish. Offers moderate, integrated tannins. Decant. Drink now through 2020." 91 Points Robert Parker: "Surprisingly silky this year, it is fresh and lively, with some grip and complexity on the finish to go with its refinement. As with many 2014s, it seems very accessible very young and I have to wonder if there is much upside to it this year. That does constrain my enthusiasm a bit, but that is an issue for the longer term. For the moment, in its youth and the mid-term, it seems both lovely and irresistible. It is a perfect food wine with some distinction and lift.." Brix26 Inside Scoop: Quinta do Crasto, which traces its roots back to the 17th century, was purchased by Constantino de Almeida, a partner in the Port house of Constantino, in 1910. ln 1981, Constantino de Almeida’s granddaughter Leonor (“Tita”) and her husband Jorge Roquette took over the Quinta, determined to restore and revitalize the family estate. Following the change in Portuguese law (allowing single quintas to bottle and export wine), Crasto has been producing and exporting table and port wines since 1994. The perseverance and commitment of the Roquette family has restored Quinta do Crasto to its rightful status as one of the great family estates of the Douro.

A very nice wine indeed. Rich, but never heavy. A layered fruit profile with dark berries, florals, followed up by a pronounced but integrated and contributing rather than disturbing portion of oak, showing both spices, vanilla and toffee, further complexity in the earthy, wet stone minerality. Could do more on the flavor though, which is lacking some flavor intensity. Drinks well but will for sure age very well.

Youthul and Powerful, athletic but never clumsy with plenty of dark fruit that is easily taking care of the new oak to a complete and balanced wine. Developing new nuances over time. Drinks well, Yet in its infancy and will benefit with some further aging for a more unison experience.
