Prince Hill is the latest property in Oregon from Napa Valley's Silver Oak Cellars specializing in Oregon Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. 94 Points Decanter: "While a new brand in the Willamette Valley, the folks at Prince Hill are playing with house money. Having taken ownership of one of the most historic vineyards in Oregon, planted by pioneer Dick Erath. This single vineyard Pinot Noir comes from the historic vineyard's blocks 1 and 4, with over 90% of it coming from the suitcase clone 95, which Dick Erath nefariously got from Clos de Vougeot for his vineyard in the Dundee Hills. Generous aromas of candied raspberries, tart cranberry and an undertone of dried lavender. The palate offers mouthfuls of fresh strawberries and wild spearmint, spiced dried blood orange and a finishing lift of white pepper." Known for its polished tannins and graceful texture, Prince Hill Dundee Pinot Noir exhibits a lustrous purple color and bright bouquet melding ripe berry and plum with hints of spice, earthy mushroom and violet. Full and round in the mouth, flavors of juicy black cherry, wild strawberry and fruity black teas extend deep into the long finish.
