Post & Beam is an outstanding value in Napa Valley Cabernet from the folks at Far Niente. Highly recommended. Named for the simple yet elegant barns that dot the American landscape as an enduring reminder of our history, Post & Beam represents craftsmanship, tradition, legacy, and purity. There’s nothing unnecessary or overly complicated about a post and beam barn. It just works beautifully. The same can be said for our wines. They are simple, elegant, pure expressions of each grape in its finest form. Tasting Notes: "Pure, fresh plum, violet and sage aromas lead to a round palate layered with ripe plum, dark berry and black currant flavors. Leather, cedar and dried herb accents, along with whispers of vanilla and oak provide depth, while lithe acidity keeps the wine lifted, balanced and bright. Supple tannins feel like suede-velvet and carry the elegant fruit and spice flavors into a finish that goes on and on. This debut vintage is pure finesse.

From the Far Niente winery. Got a taste of their new ‘18 offering. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruits with spice and sweet oaky notes. On the palate flavors of fresh blackberry and plum with licorice, vanilla and toasty cacao. Tannins are fine, a bit tight, long finish ending with fruit and toasty earthy spice. Give this some time, I tucked a few bottles in the cellar, will report back.

Mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with very small amounts of Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot blended in. Dark purple color. Elegant aromas of red and dark berries, baking spices, dried herbs and bramble. Pallet is full of black berry/currant, pencil shavings, black licorice, dried herbs, black tea and leather. Touch of earthiness on the long finish. Medium plus body. Soft texture and very savory. Outstanding value for this quality. More please! Revisited in October 2023. Just excellent.

A delightful bouquet to start of dark fruits like black cherry. Medium bodied with mild acidity. Delicious and satisfying.

Too early (knew that). Nice dark berries and plum. A little too tight still even after a bit of air. Good structure and medium tannins. Revisit in 5 years!
