Post Parade Wines Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

$89.99

Thomas Brown Cab - 95 Points                 New limited-release Cabernet from winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown. Limited. 93 Points Robert Parker: "For a wine of this quality, the Cabernet Sauvignon from Post Parade is a fabulous bargain by Napa Valley standards. Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals intense notes of crème de cassis, Indian spices, plum preserves and mulberries with touches of menthol, tree bark and pepper. Full-bodied with a beautifully plush, velvety yet firm backbone, it finishes long and spicy."   92 Points Wine Spectator: "Smoky oak, mocha and dark berry flavors form the core in this rich, elegant offering, with deep and persistent fruit offering a measure of elegance and finesse. Drink now through 2030. 367 cases made." After visiting Napa countless of times, three friends from Kentucky decided that it was time to make their own label. Enlisting the help of Frank and Kathy Dotzler (Outpost), and the most acclaimed winemaker in Napa today, Thomas Brown (Schrader, etc), they got everything they needed to make a killer bottle of wine. Post Parade is sourced from the Red Head Vineyard in Napa and the Tench Vineyard in Oakville. Thomas says that the Red Head vineyard gives structure, while the Tench Vineyard provides generosity, and we agree. Big, lush, and velvety smooth valley floor fruit mingles perfectly with the sweet tannic structure of Red Head’s hillside fruit.

Wow. The last time I had this, I went on about how I had such high expectations. Well, I didn’t have any this time and was blown away. So good right now. Muscular but not a brute.

Classic TRB style cab.. gets better with time and more air! Nose explodes with dark berries and mild oak! The palate oozes with black and blue berry flavors with a long finish! Tannins are juicy and soft! Fantastic with breaded pork chops and balsamic glazed Brussel sprouts!

Aih, the problem with expectations. They certainly were high here. I felt it was just slightly under the Rivers-Marie NV. However, I suspect this may need time and aeration, as I Coravin’d it.
