Post Parade Wines Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

$89.99

New limited-release Cabernet from winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown. Amazingly intense wine from start to finish. Dark purple hue and stunning aromas of black stone fruit, chocolate and a touch of toastiness greet you on impact.   This is an extraordinarily well-crafted wine that is lush on the palate, loaded with gorgeous jammy black stone fruits, chocolate, a touch of espresso and toasty vanilla that are in-sync with the right touch of acid.  The wine lingers on the finish for a good 30 seconds!  Only 250 cases produced. After visiting Napa countless of times, three friends from Kentucky decided that it was time to make their own label. Enlisting the help of Frank and Kathy Dotzler (Outpost), and the most acclaimed winemaker in Napa today, Thomas Brown (Schrader, etc), they got everything they needed to make a killer bottle of wine. Post Parade is sourced from the Red Head Vineyard in Napa and the Tench Vineyard in Oakville. Thomas says that the Red Head vineyard gives structure, while the Tench Vineyard provides generosity, and we agree. Big, lush, and velvety smooth valley floor fruit mingles perfectly with the sweet tannic structure of Red Head’s hillside fruit.

Extremely powerful Cabernet. Thomas rivers brown has done wonderfully with this effort. Some from tench in oakville gives it a nice woody smokey palate with that great deep blackberry with a not too dark extraction. Very nice.

Very well made; excellent to drink now and structured to lay for longer as well. Cherry pie, sweet vanilla but no American wood - 90% new French oak for 14 months. New world flavors are well integrated with an underlying European sensibility: minerality, plush and smooth tannins, integrated alcohol with an elegant finish. Gorgeously satisfying with a full range of dishes: from abalone to pork to cinnamon beignets!

Running with the big boys. Rich, full, structured. Good fruit, balance. Could use a little more time in bottle.

One of my top 5 wines of all time. Wish I had the patience to let this sit a few years.
