94 Points - new release New release of Plumpjack's Syrah- limited. The 2013 PlumpJack Syrah comes from the Stagecoach Vineyard located in the eastern hills above Oakville and Lee Hudson’s Henry Drive Vineyard in Napa’s Carneros District. 94 Points Wine Spectator: "Polished and impeccably structured, with blackberry and smoky meat aromas and layered, rich flavors of licorice and espresso that linger toward big but firms tannins." Grown in Napa, but inspired by the Northern Rhone style, this Syrah exhibits a smoky, gamey nose layered with white and black pepper, with complementary notes of blueberry and raspberry aromatics. Well structured, the palate is full of bright raspberries, black pepper and smoke. This wine has beautiful finesse, great concentration and vibrant acidity.

A tad hedonistic but who cares!?! The balance is there, the acid is there and the fruit is perfect... like scrapping warm Blueberry pie off of a blue slate plate.

If you are a fan of Cali cabs, you'll enjoy this as a variation. Big dark fruits, vanilla, and some meatiness. Very good and drinking well now. Decanted for 30min.
