New release of Plumpjack's Oakville Estate Merlot - limited. 90 Points Robert Parker: "The 2015 Merlot, which is in bottle, has a slightly denser ruby/purple color, far more appeal, with deeper, richer, sweeter fruit, a lot more sucrosity, plenty of black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, a hint of white chocolate and a heady finish. Both of these are 100% Merlot, but the 2015 is head and shoulders above the 2014. The 2015 can be drunk over the next 12-15 years."

In my opinion, one of the better merlot producers in Napa. It’s a solid effort, but has a drying finish on the palette. Earth and dried herbs are prominent, with hints of coffee and caramel. May soften with some age, but not ready right now. Being brutal, not worth the price of entry.

Deep ruby color. Aromas of dark cherry, dried red fruit and vanilla. Delicious dark fruit with a dry cedar finish.
