Pio Cesare Ornato Barolo Nebbiolo 2012

$119.99

98 Points                                                  One of the top-scoring Barolos of the 2012 vintage! Limited. This is a very rich Barolo, dense, with supple tannins, full concentrated ripe fruit, elegant and powerful with an extremely long life. It is produced in small quantities and only in excellent vintages. This vintage has extraordinary elegance, complexity and character. Silky and intense bouquet. Full body, great structure, right tannins, incredible ageing potential, precise and classic Nebbiolo style. The wine has sweet and very elegant tannins. It still needs one year in oak for the best maturation. Bravissimo! 98 Points James Suckling: "This is amazingly structured with tight and polished tannins that give this wine superb linear length and balance. Full body and bright and focused fruit. Goes on for minutes." 2017 Tre Bicchieri winner

Very tight with strong mineral and long palate. Opens beautifully to red fruits and softens, but several more years will serve it well.

After a couple strictly traditional Nebbiolos, these come across as comparatively oaky and generous. Built like a tank and delicious. Intersection of "modern" and "traditional"?

Developing beautifully, tannins are soft and structured despite the youth. Delicious Barolo.
