Philip Togni Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

$149.99

A small-production Cabernet gem from Philip Togni's Spring Mountain estate vineyard.  Limited. Perfect 100 Points Antonio Galloni:  "A majestic, towering wine, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is even more striking in bottle than it was from barrel. Deep, unctuous and remarkably vivid for such a big, intense wine, the 2013 simply conquers all of the senses, from the intellectual to the hedonistic. A host of dark red cherry, pomegranate, spice, mint and floral notes meld together in the glass, but the 2013 is a wine to admire for its total sense of completeness. This is easily the greatest young Philip Togni wine I have ever tasted. Simply put, the 2013 is magnificent and one of the wines of the vintage."

This is undoubtedly next level but still in its larval stage. The youngest Togni I’ve opened and I consumed it solo over 2 days of the weekend. Much more expressive on day 2. Black cherry, cacao and saddle leather are there but it is reluctant right now. I’m not a score guy but I believe AG or RP gave this 100 points. Hold for a minimum of 10 years if you have the patience and space. Don’t get me wrong it is very good, it just hasn’t developed yet in to what makes his wines so damn special.

Galloni might see something in this that I missed tonight and while being a really big (make that HUGE!) fan of Togni and knowing the aging potential of his wines I'm certainly curious in following this. Will it be another 1991?...I'm not totally convinced at this point but would still back up the truck.

Great wine however way to young. Had to see what AG gave this 100pts.

Idk why my dad wanted to drink this now when I have a flight to Tokyo tomorrow. But I'm not complaining.

Rich, concentrated and bursting with flavor. This Estate bottled Cab is going to just get better over time. Thanks, Frank!

2013 Decanted for 3-4 hours and was still tight. Maybe in a couple years.
