New release - 96 pts A great new Pinot Noir release from one of California's most celebrated winemakers Paul Hobbs. Carefully selected from the winery’s top vineyard sources that are defined by both their proximity to the coast and Russian River to allow cool morning, warm afternoon diurnal swings to develop fruit with purity, richness, and elegance. 95 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "Moving to the Pinot Noirs, the 2017 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley is the appellation release from Hobbs, and it's brought up all in French oak. Black raspberries, bouquet garni, crushed flowers, and honeyed strawberry notes all emerge from this beautifully polished, medium-bodied, seamless effort. With lots of upfront fruit, plenty of underlying depth and structure, and a great finish, it's a winner. Drink it over the coming decade." 93 Points James Suckling: "Paul Hobbs 2017 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley: Blueberries, brambleberries, elderberries, raspberry fool and crushed violets. I love the firm tannins, bright acidity and herbal undertones. Drink now or hold."

Nice full Pinot. But missing the RRV characteristics I hoped for. Was better day two… so maybe could use a bit of time.
