Paul Hobbs Russian River Valley Chardonnay 2016

$54.99

Another fabulous Chardonnay from Paul Hobbs.  Get the new release while it's available. 92 Points Robert Parker: "The 2016 Chardonnay features a wonderfully spicy nose of nutmeg, ginger ale and coriander seed with a core of Bosc pears, ripe nectarines and applesauce. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has fantastic freshness with a zippy acid line lifting all those fantastic spices to a good long finish." 92 Points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2016 Chardonnay (Russian River Valley) is a very pretty, nuanced wine, and also a terrific introduction to this range of super-expressive Chardonnays from Paul Hobbs. The understated personality of the year comes through nicely in the wine's lifted, gracious feel. The lemon confit and white flower notes are bright and nicely delineated. This is another strong vintage for this consistently outstanding Chardonnay. .." ...Paul Hobbs is undoubtedly one of the world’s finest consultants, and as Americans we’re lucky to have this New York State-born winemaking guru right in the heart of the Russian River, turning out a bevy of wines from both Napa and the following items from their estate vineyards in Sonoma as well as from purchased fruit. Hobbs has a separate entity now, which is aimed at producing good value wines under the Cross Barn by Paul Hobbs moniker. There’s some juicy, high-quality stuff in these cuvées."

Gold color with subtle cloudiness. White Burgundy nose - butter, camomile, oak, and a touch of minerality. Similar on the palate with above average depth and thickness. Just my style. A little more reserved and less refined than previous bottles.

Absolutely insane! Closest thing I’ve found to the ‘13 Faiveley Corton Charlemagne I rated 99 years ago! Gold color. Nose filled with butter, cream, and lemons. Similar on the palate with awesome balance. Medium plus depth and finish. Glad I buy this every year!
