A great new Chardonnay from one of California's most celebrated winemakers Paul Hobbs. Crossbarn is his new label and a fantastic value in high-end Chardonnay. Robert Parker: "A stunning bargain is the Hobbs Chardonnay CrossBarn, which was aged in 75% stainless steel, was put through 100% malolactic, and 15% was barrel fermented in order to provide a subtle hint of spice. Made in a steely, Chablis-like style, it offers up full-bodied tropical fruit notes intermixed with hints of honeysuckle and crushed rocks. Drink this 4,000-case beauty over the next several years."

Pale lemon with aromas of stone and citrus fruits with floral and honey notes. On the palate flavors of peach and pears with honeysuckle, smooth with a creamy texture, lively acidity. Medium+ finish ending with fruit and savory citrus character, no oak aging. Nice value!

It is light but potent enough to gather interest at approximately the rate of—wait I’d have to check my stocks to make a good analogy—but it has a slender body, gracefully bruised apples (bruise but make it art!) lemons and something of a hint at salinity that makes a friendly sip alone or with a munch.
