Paul Hobbs CrossBarn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

$49.99

A true second label, CrossBarn is culled from the same vineyards as Hobbs’ estate wine. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged twenty months in French and American oak barrels, the Crossbarn 2013 Cabernet is bottled both unfined and unfiltered. Awesome juice from a winemaking paragon. previous vintage 91 Points Robert Parker:  "The Cabernet Sauvignon Crossbarn is a gorgeous, fruit-driven wine bursting with dark red fruit, new leather, spices and licorice. Expressive aromatics are woven throughout in this beautifully delineated, entry-level Cabernet. The final blend includes 8% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. Hobbs uses a touch of American oak for this Crossbarn label. The main vineyards are State Lane and Mast, both in Yountville"

Excellent blend (80% cab, 16% merlot and 4% cab franc) from Napa (Paul Hobbs). Complex, low tannins and acidity, full bodied, tones of vanilla, blackberry, dark cherries and plum. Long lasting in the mouth and super smooth and well balanced. 2013 was a great vintage in Napa and this wine is a good represantation of it.

It's a dry, full bodied wine with a medium tanning and long finish. Aromas of black pepper, spices and oak. I would pair it with steak, or lamb chops.

Showed better than expected. Decanted briefly and it was bright red fruit forward; red currant, raspberry, wild berries. With some time and air, it opened up nicely and showed graphite, charcoal, bay leaf, and some rich soil. @TheSkip Another one to try in warmer weather! Can't say much about other vintages, but the 13 showed nicely
