Brainchild is a straight-up gorgeous-drinking, Prisoner-esque Red Blend from Patrick McNeil (Paydirt) and is a small-production gem. A tiny 270 cases produced. The 70% of Petite Sirah comes from the much-coveted grapes at Kenefick Ranch in Calistoga, not far from the legendary Eisele Vineyard. If you like The Prisoner-type blends with tons of fruit and juicy-ness, THIS is your wine. Killer structure, rich mouth presence, and a long, layered finish. A bit of a wild side, too -- wickedly overdelivering at this price. Named after proprietor Patrick McNeil's grandfather, who was a commercial artist and the "brainchild" for many unique advertising concepts still in use today. These are small production wines wines that really do deliver incredible quality for the price. 48% Petite Sirah, 28% Syrah, 18% Zinfandel, 6% Primitivo, 2% Grenache Vineyards: Kenefick Ranch, Calistoga, Napa ValleyPaper Street Vineyard, Willow Creek District, Paso RoblesLewis Ranches, Mokelumne River, Lodi
