The Pahlmeyer "Jayson" Chardonnay is the second label of the "Industrial Strength" Pahlmeyer Chardonnay and an amazing buy. After a meticulous selection process in assembling the final blend of the Pahlmeyer Chardonnay, the winery assigned the remaining lots of wine to the "Jayson" label. The 2012 Jayson Chardonnay was hand crafted with the same care and attention that is given to all of their wines and the fruit comes from the same vineyard as the $85 version . It is an excellent value at a fraction of the price of regular Pahlmeyer Chardonnay.

Monthly WTF wine group meet up. Honeysuckle, mint, lanolin, and butterscotch on the nose. It’s got a bit of wet fur, old lemon and old popcorn on the palate. I’d be more inclined to drink these early but this was still solid.

Citrus notes with roasted almonds on the nose. Mineral-driven palate which quickens and becomes racy. Quite weighty and deftly balanced. Finishes creamy (due to the oak treatment), with almonds and flashes of honey. Pop n pour extravaganza.

2013 vintage, my last one. Better than three years ago. Wonderful balance of oak, mineral and chard rich fruit. Who says chardonnays shouldn’t be aged?
