O'Shaughnessy Oakville Chardonnay 2013

$54.95

Rare new Chardonnay from one of our favorite small Napa wineries!  The O'Shaughnessy 2012 Chardonnay is the new release from one of our favorite boutique Napa producers.  92 Points Antonio Galloni: "The 2012 O’Shaughnessy Oakville Chardonnay is gorgeous. White flowers, mint, apricots and lemon oil all meld together in the glass. The style is bright and floral, with lovely depth and no sense of heaviness. The 2012 does a great job of capturing Napa Valley richness while maintaining a gorgeous sense of poise and balance. The 2012 is done in a combination of oak and steel, with native fermentations but blocked malolactics." Founding winemaker, Sean Capiaux, has established an impressive and notable career over the past twenty six years at prominent wineries around the globe. He graduated from California State University, Fresno (BS, Enology; minor in Chemistry) in the late-80’s and began his career at Jordan Winery in Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley. Sean traveled to Perth, Australia to work on the winemaking team at the Houghton Winery and later returned to the United States to become the assistant winemaker at Pine Ridge Winery in the Stags Leap district. Peter Michael Winery tapped him to become their assistant winemaker where he worked for four years. Sean spent several years as a bicoastal winemaker attending to wines both on Long Island and in California before coming to O’Shaughnessy.

Great acid and smoothness. Real balanced with a shuttle oak and flavor intensity. Nice and flora with a long lasting finish. No ML creamy thickness or flabbiness which I really enjoyed.
