O'Shaughnessy Oakville Chardonnay 2011

$54.95

Rare new Chardonnay from one of our favorite small Napa wineries! The third vintage of our Chardonnay benefits from what we learned from our first two releases. We again used the natural yeast present in the vineyard for fermentation and also set out to keep the malolactic fermentation to a minimum, creating a wine with great complexity and freshness. We utilized 85% French oak, both new and used, and 15% stainless steel barrels while sur lie ageing and stirring lightly for 10 months before going to bottle unfiltered. Pale yellow in color with a hint of green and a slight haze from the yeast, this wine displays aromas of Canary melon, tangerine, Anjou pear, kiwi, lemon zest and jasmine. Flavors of orange blossoms, toffee, crème brulee, hazelnut, honeycomb and star fruit compliment the balanced acidity on the palate.

11' Much nicer than the last bottle of this 11. Cloudy, the front of the palate has dissipated. Lemon meringue, orange peel, nice clean acidity. Drink up the 11's.

The thrill is gone. Little to no fruit. The acidity and alcohol overwhelm the bottle.

Awesome chard. Full bodied with no metal. Nicely cloudy. Note Christine W has a connection at O’S
