Orin Swift Slander California Pinot Noir 2017

$49.99

First time Orin Swift's Pinot Noir has been available and it doesn't disappoint! A big, concentrated Pinot Noir with aromatics of cherries, raspberries, dried rose petals, a touch of sweet oak, and a hint of forest floor. Yum! 91 Points Robert Parker: "The 2017 Pinot Noir Slander aged ten months in 30% new French oak. Pale to medium ruby-purple colored, it leaps from the glass with energetic kirsch, crushed raspberries and redcurrant notes with hints of sassafras, violets, dark chocolate and black pepper. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is laden with red and black berry layers, framed by plush tannins and great freshness, finishing long and spicy. "

I just love everything David Swift Phinney produces. In 1998 David founded Orin Swift Cellars; Orin is his father’s middle name and Swift is his mother’s maiden name. Aged for 10 mos in French oak (30%new), Ruby with complex aromas of fresh fruits, floral and spice. On the palate flavors of fresh raspberry and cherry with cacao and hints of pepper spice. Rich full tannins, lingering ending with fresh fruit, well balanced with fruit, spice and acidity. Nice!

Big taste for a Pinot; black currant, raspberry, strawberry, tobacco, with a slight hint of leather. Brioche lingering with a smooth velvet finish. Love it.
