Brand new release from Orin Swift and one of his best ever! Extremely limited.Machete is a blend of Petite Sirah, Syrah and Grenache. Petite Sirah may be winemaker Dave Phinney’s favorite grape varietal and wine . He has been growing and making it since the 2000 vintage. Massive and powerful with instense color and structure, a limited release Petite Sirah blend called “Machete” was launched in 2009. Declassified in 2010 and 2011, it has been reintroduced with new packaging for the highly praised 2014 vintage. The label concept has been two years in the making, and is decidedly unique in its various formats. 94 Points Brix26: "Saturated black-ruby, with layers of ripe cherry and strawberries. Crushed blackberry and blueberry aromas are perked up by spices, pepper, violet and mineral notes, with a smoky element adding complexity. The wine has tons of weight on the mid-palate and the finish is laced with long, tannins that go on and on. Seriously delicious and dangerously complex. A must-have." **Bottled with 12 different labels, you may not receive the one pictured, but all case orders of 12 bottles will receive all 12 different labels*

The label says #Chardonnay and tasting it, it totally gave me #Sauvignonblanc aromas in the nose and a sweet finish that, when you think about it, makes perfect sense because this has some #muscat in it. These bizarre marketing inventions bore and tire me. With all of the amazing Chardonnay in California...why do this blend and this heavy ass bottle? Lame.

Got my hands on a ‘14, excited b/c the blend changes each vintage; 79% Chardonnay, 8% Viognier, 5% Grenache Blanc, 5% Marsanne, 2% Muscat, and 1% Roussanne aged in 40% new French oak for 9 mos. Bright straw, aromas of stone & tropical fruits with floral spice. The palate shows flavors of white peach, melon and apple with hints of lemon zest and honeysuckle. The wine is well balanced with integrated oak, crisp, lively acidity and a long finish ending with a mineral edge.

Great fruit aroma, grapefruit and other citrus. Wonderful balance. A crafted wine worthy of the effort.
