New release - pre-order now!                                                                               The new Opus One 2016 now available! Limited. **Pre-order now for October delivery** 99 Points James Suckling: "Fantastic aromas that are complex and complete with blackcurrants, blueberries, and herbs, such as basil and bay leaf. But always subtle. Full-bodied yet linear and very refined with a very persistent finish. It shows drive and brightness. So refined at the end. Needs at least three to five years to come together." 97+ Points Robert Parker: "A blend of 77.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 8% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 1.5% Malbec, the Opus One 2016 Proprietary Red Wine was recently bottled in July and August 2018. Very deep purple-black, the nose reveals profound notions of chocolate-covered cherries, crème de cassis, blueberry compote and licorice with touches of tobacco, cedar chest, Sichuan pepper, eucalyptus and violets. Full-bodied, super concentrated and packed with black and blue fruits, the palate is built like a brick house with firm, ripe, finely grained tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing long and perfumed. This a very decadent expression of Opus One with a provocatively effortless harmoniousness that is truly difficult to resist. Call it a hat trick: Opus One knocks it out of the park with three excellent, if very different, takes on the the last string of vintages: 2015, 2016 and 2017." PRE-ORDER NOW FOR DELIVERY IN OCTOBER 2019

Herbaceous and extremely savory nose. Oregano , thyme, charcuterie. Doesn’t overwhelm the fruit. Medium minus on the acid front. Not screaming by any stretch. The Napa heat keeps the finish lingering and savory finish stays long. 14.5%

Had the 2016 and 2018 at the tasting as well. Beautiful day! 2016 - a drought year but opus got a lot of rain. 2018- idéal year apparently. 2016 had red and black fruit, coffee, chocolate, olive, oak, baking spice

What is all the hype about? I’ve had better wines for $10. At $350 this should have just wowed, but it did not. Maybe my palate is not sophisticated enough. Perhaps I’m a Philistine that should only drink box wines and wine coolers. Either that or this is the most overhyped plonk I have ever purchased. For those of you that are thinking of trying this for the first time... skip it. This is the wine equivalent of booking a Disney Resort hotel thinking you’ll get a 5 star experience and then realizing you got a Motel 6 with a mouse painted on it.
