Opus One Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2013

$259.99

*Pre-order the new vintage now for delivery in October.* 100 Points James Suckling: "The greatest Opus ever. Terrific aromas of crushed black currants, blueberries and flowers with hints of sweet tobacco. Roses continue to exude opulence and class. Full body, superb balance of ultra-fine tannins and vibrant acidity. Complex aftertaste of black fruits and citrus fruit. Extremely persistent. So approachable now and enjoyable. But will be even better in 2019 and beyond... This will always be beautiful to drink." 96 points Antonio Galloni:  "Dark cherries, plums, smoke, licorice, new leather and menthol race across the palate in the 2013 Opus One. Firm yet also voluptuous, the 2013 has it all. The combination of fruit and structure is superb. Today, the 2013 reminds me of the 2010 when it was young, especially in its energy and pure power. The flavor remain quite primary, one of the signatures of this great Napa Valley vintage."

One of Opus’ finest vintage. Ripe blackberries, violets and cocoa. Velvety smooth with finesse and elegance.

The cruise continues! Night eight aboard the Allure of the Seas and 50% off all wines. This was still way too young and we left it for the next day. Deep ruby red. Dusty nose with a touch of dirty cellar. Needed to air out and out came the layers with cherries, cassis, forest floor, spices and oddly a touch vegetal. Heavy tannins (8/10) and full bodied. Tons of structure and balanced acidity with layers of dark cocoa, red cherries and earthy undertones. Long finish and this definitely needs some time. Drink from 2019 till 2039.

More masculine than the '12. Blended red and black fruits with burnt vanilla spicy oak with a slight finish of mocha.

Cassis, Blackberry, cigar box, sandalwood. Dense and tight but showing nice structure. Tuck this away for a few years.

Always a treat. Same notes as last week. Had the ability to decant this bottle for an extra hour. Depth of this wine really showed with that little extra help.
