#1 Wine Enthusiast Top 100 Wines of 2019 Nino Franco's non-vintage sparkling Rustico Prosecco is unquestionably the world's finest value in a high quality, Champagne look-alike. The non-vintage, light-bodied Prosecco di Valdobiaddene Rustico offers gorgeously elegant, fresh, lively fruit, notes of bread dough and citrus, and persistent effervescence. 94 Points Wine Enthusiast "Editors' Choice": "Aromas of white spring flower, Bartlett pear and citrus waft out of the glass. The racy, refreshing palate is full of energy, offering crisp yellow-apple, lemon drop and orange zest flavors balanced by vibrant acidity. A perlage of small, refined and continuous bubbles provides the silky backdrop." 92 Points James Suckling: "A delicious and fresh Prosecco that is dry and clean with subtle lemon and fennel notes and some spicy pears. Medium body. Fine bubbles and a fruity finish." Antonio Franco founded the “Cantine Franco” winery in Valdobbiadene in 1919. It is one of the oldest winery’s in Valdobbiadene, located in the center of town, close to the countryside and the vineyards. The steepest hills with the best soils and exposition, Valdobbiadene (also called Conegliano Valdobbiadene) is the historic area covering 15 municipalities between the two villages of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. Collectively it is recognized as the Prosecco Superiore DOCG. This very small area—only 7,000 hectares—of extreme terrain is in the heart of the larger Prosecco zone.

I loved this prosecco--it says it's brut but I'd say it's a bit sweeter, which balanced the acidity nicely. The flavors are intense--lemon, yellow apple, honey, white flowers, and almondy notes. Even if this doesn't have crystalline pure fruit and comes of as a bit rustic, it's one of my favorite proseccos in a while.

Ripe golden delicious apple, white peach, orange pith, with a steely minerality. This is a leaner style Prosecco with medium acidity, moderate complexity, and a chalky finish. Good sip! #saberit #prosecco #bubbles

The NV Prosecco Superiore Rustico lifts up with a whimsical blend of peach skins, white flowers and hints of incense. This is silky and pliant in feel, with a creamy wave of sweet bubbles that fizzle out to reveal ripe Asian pear and pretty inner florals. It leaves a pleasantly bitter twang through the finale that keeps the mouth watering for more. The Rustico is one of the “entry-level” wines of the Nino Franco portfolio and makes for a wonderful introduction to the house style. (Lot# 21328) (Eric Guido, Vinous, December 2021)

Jasmine and iris on the nose, complicated by minty and earthy twists. Then rich and creamy with hints of sweet spices and earth tones along with ripe yellow fruit...This is Franco’s “premium entry-level” Prosecco; though it carries no vintage on the label, Nino Franco always places the vintage on the cork, and this is a 2015 wine. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous)
