Nickel & Nickel Truchard Vineyard Chardonnay 2019

$49.99

Delicious new Chardonnay release from Far Niente's single vineyard Nickel & Nickel winery. Only 250 cases produced. With fragrant orange blossom and floral aromas, juicy tropical fruit and pear top notes, and a subtle minerality, the Nickel & Nickel Truchard Vineyard Chardonnay continues our tradition of crafting 100%-varietal wines from outstanding single-vineyard sites. It's a cornerstone of our single-vineyard Chardonnay collection. The Truchard Vineyard in Napa Valley’s Carneros region benefits from beautiful sun exposure and cool morning and evening fog. Stiling and Medina Vineyards are each located in Russian River Valley, just a half-mile apart. Both vineyards are planted in Goldridge loam and yield distinct wines with classic minerality and fresh fruit flavors that help make some of the best chardonnays including this classic from Nickel & Nickel.

Outstanding presentation. Very well done, and at $35 per… fill yer boots!

This Nickel & Nickel chard pairs perfectly with my sous vide wagyu beef, artichokes and brussels. Onions and mushrooms complete what is an excellent pairing. The chard invokes oatmeal and citrus notes on the nose. Palate is dense and viscous. Pineapple, caramel and peaches are supported by moderate acidity. Wifey and I love this example.

See my prior notes. In the $35 price range, this is hard to beat. Displays a soft and caressing structure, with a slightly more upfront oak treatment. Concentrated, with peach and savory notes. Finishes with a hint of calcium. Moderate complexity and bold sweetness places this in the crowd-pleaser category.

So nice and inviting... Slightly muted nose, grudgingly giving up some Meyer lemons and honeysuckle. Palate is so well behaved. Lovely roasted nuts, caramel, and a honied mid-palate. Smooth and luscious, almost sexy. Excellent acidity and ginger combo. Finishes what is an excellent Napa example.

Surprisingly restrained on the oak, so it’s a better expression of the grape and place than you see in most Napa chards. Straw greet with hay yellow blended between, the nose has hints of the brioche-oak identity, but is mostly pronounced white, fresh stone fruits, vanilla, and a hint of lemon tart. The flavor is bold, oaky, but fresh and not to weighty. It’s not normally my favorite style, but it’s a good example of the way it can be done well, and more balanced than most, with a finish of crisp ripe yellow apple, with a baked cinnamon note fluttering in the back.

Nice treat. We’ll balanced. Good oak and full but still bright. Would get again with the chance.

Nice Carneros Chardonnay. Very good but not spectacular. Prefer a more Burgundian Chardonnay.

Creamy and buttery. Not how I like my Chardonnay’s.

Beautiful Chardonnay that doesn’t taste like your typical Chardonnay. Light fruity flavor and sweetness. Smooth flavor.
